About Frep

Frep is a personalized meal-planning platform built to simplify one of the most repetitive decisions households make every day: what to eat.

The product learns a household’s food preferences, dietary requirements, available ingredients, cooking habits, and constraints, then creates meal plans designed around how that household actually lives.

Our catalogue includes more than 8,000 recipes across Indian regional and international cuisines. We are building for India first, with the ambition to take the product to international markets over time.

The Role

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer who is comfortable working across the complete product stack, from React Native interfaces and backend APIs to databases, infrastructure, and production systems.

This is an early-stage engineering role with meaningful ownership. You will work directly with the founders and contribute to both product execution and technical decisions.

Your Scope of Work

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Building and improving React Native features.
• Developing and maintaining Node.js APIs and backend services.
• Working with PostgreSQL, Redis, search, and application data.
• Improving performance across an image-heavy catalogue of 8,000+ recipes.
• Building and improving recommendation and personalization systems.
• Working with AI pipelines for recipe content and food imagery.
• Diagnosing production issues and improving application reliability.
• Building internal tools and automations where required.
• Improving performance on mid-range Android devices and inconsistent mobile networks.

What You Will Need

• 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong TypeScript skills.
• React Native experience, or strong React experience with the ability to transition quickly.
• Experience with Node.js and REST APIs.
• Working knowledge of SQL and production databases.
• Understanding of authentication, background jobs, and asynchronous systems.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with Git and modern development workflows.

Good to Have

Experience with any of the following is useful, but not required:

• Expo and EAS.
• PostgreSQL or Supabase.
• Redis.
• Vector or semantic search.
• LLM applications and AI workflows.
• Recommendation and personalization systems.
• Search relevance.
• CDN and large media catalogues.
• App Store and Play Store releases.
• Native iOS or Android development.
• Consumer apps in food, health, lifestyle, or other high-frequency categories.

Location

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Pune.

The team works from the office five days a week.
