SAP Data Migration Functional Analyst – Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) / Plant Maintenance (PM)

The SAP Data Migration Functional Analyst – Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) / Plant Maintenance (PM) is responsible for the end-to-end functional ownership of assigned SAP data migration objects supporting SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Asset Management business processes.

The role serves as the primary liaison between Business Process Teams, Business Data Owners, Data Construction SMEs, and Data Migration Developers to ensure business requirements are translated into accurate migration designs, Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Field Mapping Documents (FMD), data cleansing strategies, validation procedures, and successful production deployments.

The analyst is responsible for legacy data assessment, data profiling, data relevancy analysis, data mapping, business data construction, migration testing, data validation, and migration cutover support for Enterprise Asset Management master and transactional data.

Key Responsibilities

Legacy Data Assessment and Profiling

• Perform detailed analysis and profiling of legacy Enterprise Asset Management data to understand data structures, relationships, data volumes, completeness, and overall data quality.
• Analyze legacy data volumes to estimate the effort required for data cleansing, transformation, and migration activities.
• Identify duplicate records, incomplete data, invalid values, obsolete records, and other data quality issues that could impact migration.
• Prepare legacy data assessment reports and communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to project leadership.

Data Relevancy Analysis

• Collaborate with Enterprise Asset Management functional teams and cross-functional business process teams to define business-driven data relevancy rules.
• Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to determine Active versus Inactive master and transactional data eligible for migration.
• Write SQL queries to analyze legacy data and produce relevancy analysis reports identifying active, inactive, obsolete, and archive candidate records.
• Review relevancy reports with Business Data Owners and obtain alignment and approval on migration scope.
• Maintain and update relevancy rules throughout the project lifecycle as business requirements evolve.

Data Mapping and Functional Design

• Conduct Data Mapping Workshops with business stakeholders and functional teams.
• Analyze legacy source structures and SAP S/4HANA target data models.
• Develop and maintain Data Migration Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
• Develop and maintain detailed Field Mapping Documents (FMD) defining source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, default values, derivation rules, value conversion rules, cross-reference (XREF) requirements, and data validation rules.
• Ensure all functional design and mapping documentation remains current throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Business Data Construction and Enablement

• Identify and support Business Data Construction SMEs for assigned migration objects.
• Train and onboard business users on their data migration responsibilities, including:
• Data construction activities
• Cross-reference (XREF) file preparation
• Data cleansing
• Data relevancy reviews
• Pre-load data validation
• Post-load data validation
• Provide ongoing functional guidance during data construction and cleansing activities.
• Review completed construction files for completeness and readiness for migration.

Migration Build Support

• Collaborate closely with SAP BODS or Syniti Data Migration Developers during migration build activities.
• Explain functional requirements documented in the Functional Design Specifications and Field Mapping Documents.
• Clarify mapping logic, business rules, transformation requirements, and conversion logic throughout development.
• Review migration build progress and ensure ETL development aligns with approved functional specifications.

Testing and Data Validation

• Develop Functional Unit Test scenarios and expected results.
• Coordinate and support migration testing activities.
• Assist business SMEs with:
• Pre-load validation
• Mock conversion validation
• Post-load validation
• Data reconciliation
• Work with Data Migration Developers to troubleshoot ETL defects, data transformation issues, and migration errors.
• Support defect management, retesting, and business acceptance activities.

Cutover and Hypercare Support

• Support mock conversions, dress rehearsals, and production cutover events.
• Coordinate business validation activities during production migration.
• Support legacy-to-SAP S/4HANA reconciliation activities.
• Participate in Hypercare by assisting business users with migration-related issue resolution.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen currently residing and authorized to work in the United States.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as an SAP Data Migration Functional Analyst supporting Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) / Plant Maintenance (PM) data migration projects.
• 10+ years of SAP consulting experience supporting large global SAP ERP implementation or SAP S/4HANA transformation programs.
• Demonstrated experience performing legacy data assessment, profiling, and data quality analysis.
• Experience facilitating Data Mapping Workshops with business stakeholders.
• Experience preparing Data Migration Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and detailed Field Mapping Documents (FMD).
• Experience defining business-driven data relevancy rules and supporting data cleansing initiatives.
• Experience assisting business users with data construction, cross-reference (XREF) development, pre-load validation, post-load validation, and data reconciliation.
• Experience working with SAP BODS, Syniti, SAP Migration Cockpit, or comparable enterprise ETL tools.
• Excellent analytical, facilitation, documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting multiple global SAP deployment waves, mock conversions, dress rehearsals, and production cutovers.
• Experience working within SAP Activate methodology and Agile delivery frameworks.
• Familiarity with SAP PM master data, transactional data, and Enterprise Asset Management business processes.
