Data Intern

Inspire Institute of Sport is looking for an intern to join their data team in Vijayanagar, Bellary.

Role Overview

The Data team at IIS builds the systems and processes that support performance data across the institute, from athlete onboarding to day-to-day data collection and reporting. This internship offers hands-on exposure to how data, technology, and sport intersect at a high-performance residential institute, working closely with the Data team and sports science staff across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teamworks Platform Support

• Assist the Data team with everyday tasks on IIS's athlete management platform (Teamworks), including supporting athlete onboarding and related processes
• Help maintain accurate and up-to-date athlete records on the platform

2. Performance Data Collection & Coordination

• Assist in collecting and organizing performance data across sports
• Support and collaborate with sports teams to ensure consistent and timely use of Teamworks for data recording

3. Documentation & Process Support

• Help build clear guides and reference material for internal processes and platform use
• Support the Data team in maintaining organized, well-documented records

4. Data Cleaning & Analysis

• Assist in cleaning and organizing raw data for accuracy and consistency
• Support basic data analysis to identify trends and patterns in performance data

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field
• Prior internship or project experience in a data/analytics context preferred
• Strong working proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with structured processes

Desirable

• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or other data manipulation tools
• Interest in sport, athlete performance, or high-performance environments

Working Conditions

• Base: Vijayanagar, Karnataka (on-campus)
• Full-time, in-person internship for the 4-month duration (preferably starting in September 2026)
