Position: Staff Backend Engineer – Python / SQL / Data-Intensive Systems

Location: Hyderabad

Work Mode: Hybrid

We are looking for a Senior Staff Backend Engineer to own the core computation services powering a data-intensive financial and operational platform. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on building correct, reproducible, traceable, and auditable computation systems not dashboards or LLM wrappers.

Role:

• Own backend services performing complex financial and operational computations
• Build reusable, configuration-driven computation components and rules engines
• Design high-performance, set-based computation using advanced SQL
• Ensure every result is reconcilable, reproducible, and traceable to source
• Build configuration runtimes that enable new domains/use cases without bespoke code paths
• Implement guardrails, audit logging, lineage, feature controls, and confidence signals
• Design for multi-tenant, multi-cloud and customer-hosted deployments with strong isolation
• Set engineering patterns, review designs and mentor backend engineers
• Partner with Data, AI and Product teams to translate complex domain logic into scalable services

Technical Skills:

• Python | SQL | Snowflake | PostgreSQL | Docker | Kubernetes | Terraform
• Experience with configuration-driven/rules-engine architectures and large-scale data computation is highly valued.

Experience:

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with significant Staff/Senior Staff-level ownership
• Strong expertise in Python, Go, Java or similar backend technologies
• Elite SQL skills — window functions, complex joins, data modeling and performance optimization
• Proven experience building data-intensive, configuration-driven service architectures
• Strong system design expertise across reliability, scalability, isolation and reproducibility
• Deep focus on correctness, testing, traceability and auditability

Good to have Experience with financial/accounting systems, regulated environments, dbt, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, multi-tenant SaaS, customer-hosted platforms, ML/statistical workflows or LLM integrations.

You'll own the engineering layer behind numbers that may sit alongside externally reported financials. Correctness is non-negotiable: every result must be explainable, reproducible and auditable.
