Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

Job Description

QA Automation Lead

  • Minimum experience: Approximately 6 years
  • Target experience: Around 10 years
  • Must have hands-on experience with automation frameworks.
  • Must understand automation framework development and be capable of creating/building frameworks.
  • Should have experience leading or supporting other automation engineers.
  • Lead role is approximately 80% hands-on.
  • The Lead is expected to:
  • Write automation code
  • Build automation scripts for user stories
  • Support Sprint delivery
  • Provide technical guidance to Senior QA resources
  • Help establish the overall QA automation vision
  • Ensure QA delivery across multiple teams is aligned
  • This is not a people-management-heavy role; technical leadership and hands-on automation are the priority.
  • The current team structure is approximately 3 developers + 2 QA resources, with the Lead working alongside a Senior QA.

QA Automation – Core Requirements

  • Strong hands-on automation experience is the biggest priority.
  • Candidates must have an automation-first mindset and be actively contributing to automation on a day-to-day basis.
  • Candidates should be writing automation scripts as part of their regular Sprint work rather than primarily performing manual testing and doing automation only when time permits.
  • Current environment uses Selenium, but the team is actively migrating/adopting Playwright.
  • Playwright + TypeScript is the first preference.
  • Strong Selenium experience is acceptable, particularly:
  • Selenium + C#
  • Selenium + Java
  • Candidates with strong Selenium backgrounds and approximately 2–3+ years of Playwright experience can be considered, provided the Playwright experience is genuinely hands-on.
  • The team wants candidates who can demonstrate actual working knowledge rather than simply having Playwright listed on their resume.

Programming Skills

  • Candidates should be technically strong in at least one programming language.
  • Preferred/acceptable languages include:
  • TypeScript
  • JavaScript
  • C#
  • Java
  • Python
  • The candidate does not necessarily need to have the exact target language if they have strong programming fundamentals.
  • TypeScript is preferred, particularly with Playwright.
  • The team is using AI/Copilot, so language switching is viewed as manageable for candidates with strong programming fundamentals.
